Dr. Matthias (Matt) Erlandsen is a Professional in the Government Relations, Public Affairs, Policy Analysis, and Communications sectors.
He is an expert researcher in International Relations, with a focus on Latin America and over 30 academic publications in the last 7 years only. Trained in qualitative methodology —particularly online social distanced methods—, and policy analysis. Experience in the public, private, not-for-profit, and education sectors.
He holds a Ph.D. (2021) and a master’s degree (2019) in Communication Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, a master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Chile (2017), and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (2012) with a minor in International Relations and a major in Social Communication.
He is chair of International Relations at FLACSO Chile, member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Association in Canada, Toronto Region Branch, former Regional Lead for the Americas at the Office of the Vice-President, International at the University of Toronto (Canada), former adjunct lecturer at Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile), an entertainer cook-at-home, and occasionally an amateur rugby player both in Chile and in Canada.
He speaks Spanish and English and is proficient in Portuguese. He currently lives in Toronto, Ontario along with his cocker spaniel dog named Bagel.
